Inpatient and Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation

The UMC Cardiology and Stroke Center provides patients with access to a comprehensive Cardiac Rehabilitation Program, offering highly specialized care and guidance to support you on your journey to better health and improved quality of life. The program focuses heavily on early intervention, with our Cardiac Rehabilitation experts working closely alongside you, your loved ones and your cardiologist to develop a detailed care map.

Patients typically receive follow-up care in our outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation program for a period of three months after being discharged from the hospital. Our patients are monitored using state-of-the-art equipment that will detect any cardiac rhythm abnormality. Our staff, trained in advanced cardiac life-support resuscitation, includes registered nurses and cardiovascular technicians. The outpatient program is located within the UMC Cardiology and Stroke Center on the third floor of the hospital’s seven-story tower.

Helpful Tips:

  • Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women according to the American Heart Association.
  • Warning signs of a heart attack include chest pressure, nausea, heartburn, shortness of breath, or rapid/irregular heartbeat. If it's happening, call 911 immediately.
  • Women don't always feel chest pain with a heart attack. They are more likely than men to have heartburn, loss of appetite, tiredness or weakness, coughing, and heart flutters. These symptoms should not be ignored.
  • Men feel pressure in the chest; women may simply have an overwhelming feeling of exhaustion when suffering a heart attack.
  • If you think you're having a heart attack, don't wait. Call 911. Passing time means loss of heart muscle.
  • Cherries, almonds and dark chocolate are all heart healthy foods. Enjoy and live longer.
