Professional expertise and compassion were greatly appreciated

This summer, my mother was admitted to your hospital through your ER after being transferred in from an ER in Arizona. My mom is over 90 years of age, who prior to her needing to be admitted, lived independently in her own apartment, paid her own bills and enjoyed a regular Bud with cheese and crackers every evening.

To state her fall upended all our lives is putting it mildly. My family along with my mom and a 15 month old labradoodle were packed for our annual 4 month trip to Montana leaving the next day. Your staff and facilities became our home away from home for the next week.

Dr. Fawaz saw my mother in the ER and again during an evening emergency. Her professional expertise and compassion were greatly appreciated. The evening of my mother’s emergency, the response team was timely, efficient and sensitive to an alarming situation- even checking the next day on my mother’s status.

Dr. Ongtengco was her attending hospitalist. He was very personable; answering my questions and reassuring me about my concerns. I felt very confident in his medical oversight. The nursing staff was very supportive and efficient. RN’s, Westina and Noel and CA Isabel on the 3rd floor and RN Dina and CA Michelle on the 4th floor were exceptional. Their care and assistance were greatly appreciated.

A. Ruiz and Crystal from Social Services kept me appraised of arrangements made for my mother’s transfer to a skilled nursing rehab facility, staying in close touch and giving me their phone number for questions and concerns.

The lab, X-ray, CT, Dietary and all the support services were polite and accommodating, making their procedures as easy for my mom as possible. The cafeteria and staff was definitely a morale booster! The staff were all helpful and the food selection exceptional and saw us through our long days and evenings. Your gift shop had all of the necessities for our unexpected “stay”, offered the “perfect” stuffed animal for my mom along with friendly sales people.

And finally, the hospital administrator on duty the evening of my mother’s emergency. He could not have been more helpful. His presence was greatly appreciated, making my mom’s transfer to a higher level seamless.

I’m writing this at my mother’s rehab bedside. She is making good progress. Thank you again for being there. Her care meant everything at such a difficult time.
