University Medical Center is pleased to announce its receipt of the Gold Plus Award from the American Heart Association. This award is in addition to the double Gold Awards recently presented to UMC.

The Gold Plus Award recognizes UMC for its high adherence to the American Heart Association’s “Heart Failure Performance Indicators” and “Get With The Guidelines” program. Both of these programs outline best practices for the most favorable outcomes for patients.

Along with the Gold Plus award, the American Heart Association has presented UMC with Gold Awards, for three consecutive years, for the superb treatment of Coronary Artery Disease and Heart Failure.

“We are extremely proud of this accomplishment. This is a tribute to the physician collaboration and the bedside nurses who take care of our community and they deserve this award,” said UMC CEO Kathy Silver.

This caliber of recognition proves UMC’s long-standing commitment to providing an excellent quality of cardiovascular care for our patients.

"This achievement recognizes UMC for surpassing all other Nevada hospitals in cardiac treatment. UMC set the standard, and is now raising the standard for the level of healthcare in our community,” said Clark County Commissioner Lawrence Weekly.

The awards are based on overall patient outcomes, rapid assessment and quick delivery of treatment and medication, education about heart health and smoking cessation programs, and an unsurpassed commitment to cardiac care for our patients.

“This acknowledgement of our efforts by the AHA is a tribute to the skilled team we have here at UMC who have dedicated themselves to the care of heart patients, and made a commitment to providing evidence based treatment to ensure the best outcomes for our patients,” said UMC Chief of Cardiology Dr. Chowdhury Ahsan.
