Post Graduate Year One Residency

PROGRAM FUNDAMENTALS

  • The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency builds on Doctor of Pharmacy education and strives to contribute to the development and advancement of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a variety of conditions
  • Residents participate in the clinical on-call program. Responsibilities include pharmacokinetic consults, nutrition consults, drug information requests, pain consults, etc.
  • Residents participate in the distributive operations of the inpatient pharmacy
  • Residents participate in the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program
  • Residents are provided multiple opportunities to precept pharmacy students
  • The design and completion of a resident research project, including a formal platform presentation at a regional conference and a final manuscript of research results suitable for publication, is required
  • Formal presentations are required of the residents throughout the residency year
  • Residents are provided the opportunity to complete a teaching certificate program through Roseman University of Health Sciences, College of Pharmacy
  • Upon completion of the PGY1 program, residents are equipped to thrive in different settings, including clinical pharmacy specialists, clinical faculty, or continuation of training in a PGY2 program or fellowship

LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS

  • Nevada Intern Pharmacist License required
    (unless licensed as registered pharmacist in Nevada prior to July 1)
  • Nevada Pharmacist License within 60 days of starting program
  • NAPLEX and Nevada MPJE must be taken prior to the first day of residency

RESIDENT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy
  • Pharm.D.
  • Eligible for licensure in Nevada
