Ketosis

Description:
Abnormal accumulation of ketones in the body, resulting from inadequate intake or metabolism or carbohydrates and increased fatty acid metabolism, leading to the formation of ketone bodies. Ketosis occurs most often in starvation and uncontrolled diabetes mellitus.

Symptoms:
It is characterized by a fruity breath odor and the presence of ketone bodies in the urine; if untreated, it can lead to ketoacidosis, coma and death.
