Hemophilia
Description:
Inherited disorder characterized by excessive bleeding and occuring on in males. Several forms of the disease, including hemophilia A and hemophilia B (also called Christmas disease), occur; in all forms one of the blood clotting factors necessary for normal blood coagulation is missing or present in abnormally low amounts. Greater than usual blood loss in dental extractions and simple injuries, and bleeding into joint areas, commonly occur; sever internal hemorrhage is less common.

Involves administration of missing blood coagulation factors (clotting factors) in some cases and transfusions to replace lost blood.
