Wall of Hope Inspires Trauma Patients and their Families
HERE’S A LOOK AT SOME EXTRAORDINARY NEWS HAPPENING AROUND UMC
Wall of Hope Offers Inspiration to Trauma Patients and their Families
UMC is the only Level I Trauma Center in the state of Nevada. We care for the most severely injured and critically ill patients. UMC is very proud to have a 98% success rate of patients who survive and go on to live healthy lives. The entrance to our Trauma Center offers “The Wall of Hope” to family members as they walk through our doors, by showcasing the miraculous stories of recovery of some of our most seriously ill patients.
UMC Quick Care Treating More Serious Colds and Flus Because of Economy
UMC Quick Care Physicians say Southern Nevadans are waiting longer to go to the doctor when they don’t feel well because of economic reasons, and that patients are coming into our Quick Cares sicker because of it. Our Quick Care doctors say children and the elderly should be seen as soon as symptoms of the flu arise so their condition doesn’t get worse. Flu shots are still available at our Quick Care locations and are recommended to keep people healthy through this chilly season. Our Quick Care Physicians are available for interviews on the status of this year’s cold and flu season and why patients should not wait to see their physician if they have serious flu symptoms.
The Puff Stops Here
While many folks have already forgotten about their New Year’s resolution to quit smoking, it’s not too late to make the resolution, again! With classes like “The Puff Stops Here,” The University of Nevada’s School of Medicine, in partnership with UMC, offers smoking cessation classes at a very low cost. We can provide your viewers and readers with tips on how to kick the habit for good.
Infant Massage a Great Way for Mom and Dad to Relax their Newborn
The nurturing touch of a parent can often be better than any medicine. Our Family Resource Center offers free infant massage classes to new moms and dads. There is a science behind human touch. Parents often find their babies sleep better, fuss less and gain more weight when massaged regularly. This is a neat medical story with helpful hints for new parents.
