UMC Steps Up For the Community
In response to the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada’s recent issues, UMC Quick Care Centers are offering a free visit for those receiving letters from the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) notifying them of possible hepatitis B, hepatitis C and HIV exposure. The visit will include a physician’s order for the necessary lab tests and patients must bring a copy of the SNHD notification letter. Patients will then be sent to independent labs for testing and may incur a cost associated with those tests.
“UMC is the community’s hospital,” said County Commission Chairman Rory Reid, “and it’s important that we step up to the plate to ensure that those in need can access medical services.”
Kathy Silver, UMC interim chief executive officer, agreed: “As the community’s hospital, we felt it was important to provide the necessary access for those affected. This is the role of the community’s hospital in time of medical need.”
UMC has 10 Quick Care Centers located throughout the Las Vegas Valley and in Laughlin.
