April 21-28 is National Infant Immunization Week and UMC’s Family Resource Center Is Offering Free Immunizations
During National Infant Immunization Week, UMC is reminding parents that free immunizations are available at its Family Resource Center.
“Last year, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention ranked Nevada last in the country because of its low immunization record,” said Lisa Pacheco, registered nurse and assistant clinical manager of the Family Resource Center. “Our goal is to make sure that children who don’t have insurance and access to medical care gets the shots they need.”
While free immunizations are available daily, the Family Resource Center is also hosting the Helping Kids Clinic on April 24 and May 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. During clinic hours, Parents can get check-ups and treatment for minor illnesses in addition to shots.
“We want parents to call us for an appointment. If they can’t make it to the Family Resource Center, we will help find a location close to them to make sure that their children are taken care of,” Pacheco said.
Appointments are required for all immunizations and at the Helping Kids Clinic, and can be made by calling 383-BABY (2229). UMC’s Family Resource Center is located at 1120 Shadow Lane, across the street from the hospital’s main campus.
