UMC Focuses on Employee Retention, Recruitment

University Medical Center (UMC) is making significant strides to increase employee retention and recruitment with the opening of its Employee Education and Development Complex and Employment Services Center.

The UMC Employment Services Center, located in the Delta Point Office Complex at 901 Rancho Lane, Suite 160, offers prospective employees a chance to learn more about careers at the hospital. Kiosks are available for job seekers to fill out applications online, which ensure applications are legible and contain all the required information.

With healthcare jobs in demand, it is essential that medical employers invest in their current employees. UMC is no exception. The hospital is launching its Employee Education and Development Complex to provide a single place where employees can receive additional training to increase their skills or to complete required training courses to maintain certifications.

“With the high demand for quality healthcare workers, we felt it was essential to demonstrate to our employees the commitment UMC has to their professional growth,” says John Espinoza, chief human resources officer. “As a public entity we are conscious of how expensive it can be for our employees to travel for conferences and other training, so we are bringing the training to them.”

The new facility features four state-of-the-art training rooms the largest of which can be divided to make three smaller rooms for a total of six rooms that can be used simultaneously. The Complex has a full range of audio/visual equipment and video conferencing capabilities enabling employees to participate in conferences without having to travel out of state to attend or even leave their work area to participate in a class.

UMC’s Employment Services Center and Employee Education and Development Complex are located at 901 Rancho Lane, Suite 160, across from UMC’s main campus inside the Delta Point building. Prospective employees can contact the Employment Services Center at 702-383-2230 or 800-228-2354. The Employment Services Center is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
