UMC Awarded a 2006 Consumer Choice Award
University Medical Center (UMC) received a 2006 Consumer Choice Award for the Las Vegas area from the National Research Corporation (NRC), a leading market research firm for the healthcare industry.
The award is based upon four questions from NRC’s Healthcare Market Guide®, which is an annual consumer study conducted by the organization. Consumers provided responses about which hospital in their area had the best doctors, nurses, image and reputation and overall quality. There were two winners selected for Las Vegas, UMC and Sunrise Hospital. A complete list of the 2006 Corporation Consumer Choice Award winners is included in the Sept. 25 issue of Modern Healthcare Magazine.
“We are extremely honored that UMC received this award as it is based on how our hospital is viewed by the community, and our patients,” said UMC Chief Executive Officer Lacy Thomas. “While this is just one indicator of how UMC is performing as a healthcare facility, we will continue to do what is necessary to continue to provide even higher quality health care in 2007.”
The NRC is an organization that profiles physician, provider and health plan performance, and is the leading provider of ongoing survey-based performance measurement, analysis and tracking services to the healthcare industry. NRC’s Healthcare Market Guide® is the largest study of its kind, and provides consumer ratings for more than 3,000 hospitals and more than 800 health plans nationwide.
