UMC Primary Care Centers Observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Free Clinical Breast Exams Offered
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and to mark the occasion two UMC Primary Care Centers will provide free Clinical Breast Exams. An estimated 216,000 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in American women this year, according to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Early detection is the key to successful treatment. The participating UMC Primary Care Centers include the following.
Oct. 10 from noon to 7 p.m. Nellis Primary Care 63 N. Nellis Blvd.
Oct. 11 from noon to 7 p.m. Spring Valley Primary Care 4180 S. Rainbow Blvd., Ste. 810
The American Cancer Society recommends a baseline mammogram for women at age 35, then annually beginning at age 40. However, every woman should conduct a breast self-exam (BSE) each month, and receive a clinical breast exam from their health care provider during their annual physical.
Appointments are required for a clinical breast exam. Call 383-2713 to schedule an appointment or to receive additional information.
