What is Pre-Registration? Pre-Registration is an important and significant portion of your UMC experience; it helps us ensure that when you are a patient, you will receive quality care, and that any preliminary tests are completed and the necessary authorizations have been obtained from your physician.
What happens during Pre-Registration? You will be greeted by an employee who is skilled in registration, insurance and billing. This employee will need the procedure/surgery orders from your physician and your insurance card. You will receive a patient identification number, which is needed for diagnostic tests done in the Laboratory and Radiology departments. This same number will be used on the day of the procedure/surgery. the next step is for you to be interviewed by a highly qualified Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse, who will check that specific preparations have been made for you.
How long will I be in the Day Surgery registration area? Patients are seen in the order that they arrive. Our goal is to complete the entire registration process in one hour. This includes your diagnostic tests in the Laboratory and Radiology.
Where should I park? When you pre-register, you are encouraged to park in the reserved spaces in front of the Ambulatory Surgery Center.
