UMC Rehabilitation Services offer the continuity of care essential to the healing process. Referrals are accepted from physicians, social workers, discharge planners, case managers, community agencies and families. Arrangements for admission and individual care plans are made after an evaluation has been made and the medical director or designee has given approval, using criteria established by the Federal Government.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is a medical specialty that strives to restore or improve an individual’s physical and mental capacities that have been lost or reduced as a result of disease or injury.
Our team of health care professionals will assess and evaluate a patient’s ability and develop an individualized program of care. The team works together to restore functions, building on abilities that have not been affected and compensation for those abilities which are diminished or lost.
Appointments Patients are seen by appointment in both the primary care and specialty clinics. Same day appointments are arranged for those patients who are established with the Lied Ambulatory Care Clinic. Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5 pm by calling (702) 383-2239 or (702) 383-2313.
With emphasis on one-on-one therapy, treatment goals are evaluated weekly and treatment plans are updated as necessary. Family members and friends are encouraged to participate in the program and assist the team in its goal to return the patient to as independent and functional a life as possible.
Inpatient Services UMC’s Rancho Rehabilitation Center offers 34 general rehabilitation beds to provide continuity of care to patients with traumatic brain injury, stroke, post craniotomy and other insults to the brain which cause the patient thought process deficits; amputation, multiple trauma, fractured hip, arthritis and spinal cord injuries (traumatic or disease process).
Services are also provided for patients with neurological degenerative diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Gullian Barre Syndrome, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gherig’s disease) and neuropathies.
Outpatient Services Rehabilitation services are available on an outpatient basis in all therapy disciplines. These services require physician referral and prescription. Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 5 pm by calling (702) 383-2239 or (702) 383-2313.
