UMC maintains a certified cancer treatment program and is committed to maintaining its leadership role in the care of oncology patients. The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer has certified the program since 1983.

The professionals who staff The Cancer Center are specifically trained to meet the needs of cancer patients and their families through all phases of care, on an inpatient or outpatient basis. Twenty-four–hour individualized treatment is given to every patient and designed to meet not only physical needs, but emotional and spiritual ones as well.

The Center participates in national clinical research protocol studies to help speed the delivery of high-quality, sate-of-the-art cancer care to local patients by allowing them to remain in the community and receive the latest forms of treatment.
