UMC’s Pediatric Intensive Care Unit provides state-of-the-art care to children suffering from critical injuries or illnesses, such as head injuries, broken bones, respiratory infections and heart problems.

UMC’s private PICU rooms were designed with family in mind. We know that hospitalization can be especially scary for children and that’s why our Pediatric staff encourages family visitation. The rooms are large enough to accommodate several family members, which allow the child to be surrounded by familiar faces.

A playroom is also available and offers children a much-needed distraction from being hospitalized. It also allows children to interact with one another, family, or UMC’s Child Life Specialists, which helps the healing process.
